- Feasibility study
Construction of Budapest Ferihegy Terminals 2A and 2B facilitated that the role of Budapest in the international air traffic got even more prominent. Following a continuous increase, in 2001 the number of passengers of Budapest Ferihegy International Airport reached 4.6 million. According to the forecasts, the anticipated number of passengers in 2004-2005 will be 5 million.
The project is aimed at establishing a track-bound link between Budapest city center and the airport. The express railway line of independent operation partly uses the existing railway track and partly a new one, running in a tunnel over its entire length within the airport area. Both of the terminals are provided with landside facilities and public address systems that will ensure a high standard of handling the anticipated considerable volume of passenger traffic.
