During the last 60 years UVATERV Engineering Consultants Ltd. participated in the planning and design of several transportation engineering projects in Hungary as well as in other countries.
UVATERV's activity embraces first of all transportation infrastructural areas: airports, motorways, roads, railroads, bridges, overpasses, tunnels, metro systems, river ports, buildings for transport facilities, repair plants, underground garages and parking houses, telecommunication towers. The experts of UVATERV have a wide experience in the field of planning and design of office buildings, shopping centers, hotels, sport and education facilities.
The company has three main divisions: the first division covers the design of roads, motorways, railways and airports, including network development and traffic engineering design, and also land survey, public utility design and region development. The second division deals with bridges, technology and structural design. The third division is responsible for underground structures, metro systems, architecture and installation engineering design. The activity of the three divisions takes place in altogether nine departments. The engineering and consulting work is highly computerized with groupware systems and project management software .
UVATERV is ready to participate in any phase of the design, from the preparation of feasibility studies through the elaboration of final design up to the supervision of the implementation.

The most important reference works of the past years are as follows:

The extension of Budapest-Ferihegy International Airport; the extension of M1, M3, M7 motorways; the M0 motorway ring by-passing Budapest; new bridges on the rivers Danube and Tisza; feasibility study for the 4th metro line in Budapest; hotels, office buildings, shopping malls, underground garages in Hungary; airport construction supervision on three locations in Algeria; design of 700 km railway line and the Tripoli metro system in Libya.
At the beginning, in 1948, the firm was founded as a state owned company, and in 1993 it was transformed into a company limited by shares. The privatization of the company took place in 1996 in the form of a combined employee-management buyout scheme.
In 1997 a quality management system according to ISO 9001 was introduced.

Electrification of Budapest – Esztergom Railway line

The construction of Esztergom railway line began in the 19th century, originally the track has meant to be a commuter (local) line. The primary goal of the railway track was to secure the supplement of coal for Budapest’s factories and population. In the 20th century the coal mining dropped back and the surrounding settlements rapidly increased. The role of freight traffic was taken over by the suburban passenger traffic.
