Szombathely-Szentgotthárd Railway line Railway bridge

The original bridge built more than 50 years ago became obsolete both from the point of view of structure and flood protection. Hence, the superstructure of the bridge was to be changed completely within the frame of the reconstruction project of the railway line Szombathely-Szentgotthárd.
The superstructure designed by our company has the following technical features: simply supported structure, steel lattice girder structure provided with ortothropic bridge deck lower boom. The deck slab provides the upper boom plate of the  lower flange members, longitudinal members and transverse girders.
The new superstructure necessitated new abutments.
The railway line is a single track line, connecting to the superstructure with direct rail fastening (EDILON).



Electrification of Budapest – Esztergom Railway line

The construction of Esztergom railway line began in the 19th century, originally the track has meant to be a commuter (local) line. The primary goal of the railway track was to secure the supplement of coal for Budapest’s factories and population. In the 20th century the coal mining dropped back and the surrounding settlements rapidly increased. The role of freight traffic was taken over by the suburban passenger traffic.
